She is also a Lecturer in Art Therapy Psychology and a Clinical Specialist at Stanford University Hospital as well as a full-time member of the faculty at the College of Notre Dame in Belmont, California.

Stanford University Alzheimer's Research Center - An active leader in Alzheimer's disease research and diagnosis for 15 years.

May 19, 2000 - NBC News had a segment about a technique called Validation Therapy. Using it, the caregiver finds whatever the patient easily recalls as the most enjoyable experiences of their life and allows them to relive it as often as they want.

The traditional approach was to leave patients alone with their thoughts and correct them if they still thought it was World War II. Now, every effort is made to find that slice of their past that is now their present, and actually meet them there in that "reality", where they stand at that moment. They often go back to their happiest times; starting a new job, getting married, having children. The result: Less agitation, less confusion, less fear.

By reassuring patients about the few memories they have left, Validation Therapy helps some of them from progressing farther. It often stops depression when they are encouraged to reminisce.

Validation Therapy is gaining nationwide acceptance. It's thought to be the best way of helping the current 4 million sufferers.
