September 20, 2003 - I attended my first meeting of Aerodrome HQ. A group of about 20 ultralight student pilots and instructors gather at the Wings of History Museum every third Saturday. This month we elected a new president and talked about raffling a Kit Fox at the Fly-In taking place three weeks from now. The club formed only a year ago. Previously you had to drive all the way to Byron to take ultralight lessons. During the roundtable discussion I mentioned that after trying skydiving, hot-air ballooning, hang gliding and paragliding, now my dream was of owning an airport in the southwest somewhere like New Mexico after I retire. Right. After the meeting and before driving to Hollister Airport to have lunch and do some afternoon flying, we took a tour of the museum. The website is http://www.wingsofhistory.org If you're really interesting in air sports and ultralight flying, please join our group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ultralight. -gg |
