What we do and who we help

For EV Drivers: Over 1 million registered app users rely on Zapmap to navigate the public charging landscape with total confidence. Drivers can use Zapmap to find and pay for charging across the UK, see live charger availability and pricing directly on the map and easily plan cross-network routes.

For CPOs:  Charge point operators know that the Zapmap platform offers a sure fire way to highlight charger locations, coverage and availability, while keeping payments simple for EV drivers. Our credit and RFID offerings further extend reach to new audiences. Our gold standard market intelligence is an open secret, supporting competitor benchmarking, customer experience and strategic development.

For government: As the official data provider to the Department for Transport for public EV charging infrastructure in the UK, we're supporting central, regional and local government alongside associated agencies to map demand and optimise location planning. Zapmap’s high-integrity, granular data, evidencing where, when and how drivers are charging, helps to ensure that national policy moves past guesswork to drive the transition to low-emission mobility.

For the energy industry: Connected load is static; actual demand is dynamic. For DNOs, iDNOs and network planners, understanding when people charge is as important as by how much. Zapmap tracks demand patterns and real-world driver behaviours as well as providing go-live dates for individual charging devices and tracking how utilisation matures over time. Our Insights products are used for accurate load forecasting, mapping revenue to peak-time demand, site modelling and maintenance planning, taking the guesswork out of ROI projections and protecting long-term asset value.

For the wider sustainability ecosystem: From OEMs to insurance, from green energy tariffs to leasing, we’re a source of education, information, statistics and resources for anyone working towards the clean energy transition. Zapmap’s tools and commercial market intelligence help you to support your customers as they navigate new choices, and our advertising and demand generation services, alongside our communications partnerships, help to build a credible voice and to reach the largest, most engaged community of EV drivers, buyers, and intenders.

Our story

As a pioneer in the early days of electric cars, Zapmap was founded in 2014 with a mission to accelerate the transition to low emission mobility by helping people navigate the EV charging landscape with confidence.

What began as a pioneering digital map has evolved into the UK’s leading EV charger mapping and service, built on the most comprehensive, accurate and reliable charge point data.  hitting major development milestones along our journey:

Corporate backing

Zapmap secured vital seed investment in 2019 and 2021 from 100% renewable energy company Good Energy to help build our proposition..

Product expansion

We launched our payment proposition in 2020, introducing a single-app, cross-network payment solution to reduce charging friction for drivers.

Series A Funding

Zapmap announced a major £9 million Series A funding round in August 2022, securing continued backing from Good Energy alongside a strategic investment from global business payments provider Corpay to scale-up our operations.

Expertise and track record

With over a decade of experience in the EV charging industry, Zapmap delivers a consumer app for EV drivers, support for charge point operators and high integrity data which provides insights to the industry on the shape and scale of the charging point infrastructure.

Government: As a trusted data partner to the Department for Transport, Zapmap data officially underpins the UK Government’s public charging infrastructure statistics and local authority mapping.

Partnerships: Partnered with a number of organisations including The AA and Hive, Zapmap provides EV charging services to the wider industry. Zapmap also collaborates closely with a number of organisations such as EVA England, Electric Vehicle UK, Charge UK and BVRLA to provide driver feedback and insights.
