Good Energy Solar Redlands

Zapmap and Good Energy

Zapmap and Good Energy. We’re more than partners – Good Energy is also Zapmap’s largest investor, helping us to grow from a start-up to what we are now.

Founded over 25 years ago, Good Energy makes it easier to generate, use, share and travel with green energy.

Starting out as one of the UK’s first 100% renewable electricity suppliers, the business has expanded into solar panels, battery storage, EV chargers and heat pumps - helping homes and businesses cut their energy bills and carbon footprints with green technology.

They’re proudly greenwash-free and highly accredited too: the UK’s only B Corp energy supplier, rated 5 stars on Trustpilot, and named a Which? Eco Provider four years in a row.

Introducing Good Energy’s new EV tariff

Good Energy is launching a new EV tariff, offering five hours of low-cost electricity between midnight and 5am at just 6.6p per kWh. And like all Good Energy tariffs, every unit you use - day or night - is matched with 100% renewable electricity from over 3,000 independent generators across the UK.

Why EV drivers are going solar

EV drivers are high electricity users – increasing an average home’s annual power consumption by around 75%** If you’re savvy, you’ll already be on an EV tariff to help you charge for less. But the compromise is often higher unit rates in the day.

That’s where solar panels come in. They help you to offset your higher daytime rates by generating your own low-cost electricity right when it’s most expensive to buy.

If you're home during the day, you can take advantage of the free, low-carbon electricity - especially if your charger allows you to prioritise solar energy over grid power. If you're not home to charge during the day, your system still works for you by exporting excess solar power to the grid. The credits you earn will help offset the cost of charging your car, or powering your home, later.

And if you add a battery, you’ve got the best of both worlds. Charge your car and battery for less overnight, and power your home for less by day.

*The Good Energy Smart EV Fixed Tariff (October25) is available from 1 October. Its excellent off-peak rate of 6.6p / kWh, accessible in a five-hour window between 12am and 5am, means customers can charge a standard range Tesla Model Y to 100% for as little as £3.96. The rest of the day will be charged at an average peak rate of 30.07p per kWh between the hours of 5am and 11:59pm.

**Based on driving a Tesla Model Y 8,000 miles a year, which equates to roughly 2,000kWh extra. Average electricity consumption without an electric car is 2,700 kWh.
