Electric vehicle (EV) charge point operator (CPO) Believ has partnered with Mitchells & Butlers, the UK’s leading pub and restaurant company, to deliver fully funded EV charging infrastructure across a significant number of its sites nationwide.

The agreement will see Believ install EV chargers at up to 65 sites, providing an end-to-end service from site selection and installation through to ongoing operation and maintenance. The contract includes electricity supply, maintenance and repairs, software and platform management, and customer support. The CPO will also fully fund all the EV charge point installation costs, including construction, hardware, and electrical work.

With a wide variety of restaurants, bars and hotel venues in its portfolio, including Miller & Carter, Ember Inns, All Bar One, Toby Carvery and Harvester, Mitchells & Butlers is ideally placed to offer drivers convenient EV charging in both urban and out-of-town settings.

With installation starting in mid-2026, the project will see a mix of charge point types rolled out to serve different use cases. Sites with hotels will feature Standard-Plus (22 kW) chargers designed for overnight or extended stays. For shorter visits typical at restaurants and pubs, Believ is installing Rapid and Ultra-Rapid chargers delivering speeds of up to 250 kW, providing drivers with quick and convenient top-ups. Accessibility is also being factored in, with every site to include one or more fully accessible bays.

EV drivers can access the Believe network though the Zapmap app, where live status and availability information is shared 24/7. Payments for charging can be made directly in the app or with the Zapmap charging card.

Sarah Leggett, Estate Project Manager at Mitchells & Butlers, said:

“We are pleased to be working with Believ to deliver electric vehicle charge points across a number of our sites. This partnership will support our guests and businesses by providing convenient, reliable charging while enhancing the longterm sustainability of our estate.”

Craig Butler, Property Director at Believ, said:

“As EV adoption continues to grow, businesses like Mitchells & Butlers are recognising the importance of offering on-site charging to support customer demand and stay ahead of the curve.

“The variety of locations across their portfolio, from city centre pubs to countryside restaurants, means we can deploy a tailored mix of charge point speeds, providing value and convenience to a wide range of EV drivers.”

“By taking advantage of Believ’s fully funded model, they can deliver a scalable, future-proofed charging network that supports both sustainability goals and long-term customer loyalty.”
