Powering Aberdeen’s transition to electric vehicles
The Aberdeen hub brings high-power, reliable charging to a central city location, with a mix of bays designed to suit different charging needs, from a quick top-up to a fuller charge during a short dwell time. Its Palmerston Road location makes it convenient for local residents, city-centre visitors and drivers travelling through Aberdeen.
With 150kW and 300kW bays available, drivers can add significant range in minutes rather than hours, offering a faster and more reliable option for those currently relying on slower on-street or older public chargers. The hub also provides a useful alternative for the city’s many drivers without off-street parking at home.
RAW’s chargers are designed to be straightforward to use, they can be accessed directly using the Zapmap app, or payment can be made using the Zapmap charging card, via contactless payment, and RAW provide 24/7 support.
The site builds on RAW Charging’s growing partnership with Hubber and further expands RAW’s UK-network, which now spans more than 500 sites.
Jason Simpson, CEO, RAW Charging, said:
“We’re delighted to bring a major Rapid Hub to Aberdeen, giving drivers across the city access to a genuinely fast option right in the city centre. Fourteen ultra-rapid bays means drivers can add serious range rather than planning their day around charging. This launch is another important step in our partnership with Hubber, providing fast, reliable and well-located facilities.
“Aberdeen is a fantastic addition to our growing network, and we look forward to welcoming drivers to our new Rapid hub and to more sites with Hubber in the months ahead.”
Harry Fox, CEO & Co-Founder, Hubber, said:
"This is a landmark EV charging site in the heart of Aberdeen and we were delighted to partner with a top-tier operator like RAW to bring it to life. Transforming an underused city-centre site into a dedicated, purpose-built high-powered hub, backed by a large grid connection, is exactly what Hubber does best: delivering the vital urban infrastructure our cities need as more drivers without home charging make the switch to electric. Mass-market adoption needs hubs like this, not chargers in ones and twos."
