Clarks Village welcomes guests from across the South West and beyond, drawing shoppers to its mix of designer brands, high street favourites, cafés and restaurants and award-winning landscaped gardens, set on the site of the historic former Clarks shoe factory. With the addition of eight EV chargers, drivers can recharge conveniently during their visit, extending the site’s appeal to EV drivers travelling from Bristol, Bath, Exeter and further afield via the M5 and A303.
The new RAW EV charging station significantly upgrades the EV charging provision at Clarks Village, replacing the previous lower-speed 7kW chargers with four 22kW AC Standard Plus and four 50kW DC Rapid chargers. The new hub is located in Car Park Two at Clarks Village, in the north-west corner near to the outlet entrance.
The new hub adds to RAW and Landsec’s growing national network, which will deliver over 1,000 EV charging bays across 28 retail and leisure destinations, including Bluewater, Gunwharf Quays, White Rose Shopping Centre and Brighton Marina. The 20-year partnership also includes a programme to replace and upgrade legacy charging infrastructure that no longer meets current standards for speed, reliability or accessibility.
Landsec's destinations welcome over 20 million visitors annually, and RAW's wider network already powers popular sites for the National Trust, Merlin Entertainments, and several leading hotel groups.
RAW's entire network can be accessed directly in the Zapmap app, where charging sessions can be started and payments made easily. RAW chargers are also compatible with the Zapmap charging card - an RFID card that allows you to pay with just a tap, and have all of your charging session information and receipts stored in the Zapmap app.
Jason Simpson, CEO, RAW Charging, said:
“Clarks Village is a well-established retail destination in the South West, and we’re pleased to bring reliable EV charging to the drivers who visit it. This latest hub is another step forward in our partnership with Landsec, showing how we’re bringing convenient charging to destinations of every size across the country.”
Mike Jones, Centre Director of Clarks Village, commented:
“The new EV charging stations are a welcome addition to Clarks Village, offering reliable and convenient charging to our guests while they shop, dine and enjoy everything the outlet has to offer.”
