A landmark moment for the UK’s EV transition

World EV Day arrives with the UK’s electric transition gathering pace. According to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) and Zapmap, there are now more than 2.15 million fully electric cars on UK roads. Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) made up over a quarter of all new car registrations across the first seven months of 2026, reaching a record 30% market share in June, as expanding model choice, competitive pricing and the Government’s Electric Car Grant continue to accelerate uptake.

With more drivers making the switch than ever before, reliable, convenient charging at the destinations people visit every week is central to sustaining that momentum and to giving new EV owners the confidence to go electric.

Jason Simpson, CEO, RAW Charging, said:

“World EV Day is a chance to celebrate how far the UK has come and to make the switch to electric feel that little bit easier. That is exactly what we are doing by opening up free charging right across our network: at the shopping parks, gardens, pubs, attractions and days out where people already spend their time.
