InstaVolt, the UK’s largest high-powered EV charging network, has extended its long-standing partnership with Zapmap to give drivers more payment choice across its extensive public network.
Zapmap users, now numbering over one million, can pay for charging quickly and easily at over 2,500 Rapid and Ultra-rapid InstaVolt chargers across almost 900 locations using the Zapmap app or charging card. Located primarily in quality food and beverage and retail spaces such as McDonald’s, Costa Coffee and Booths, and along the strategic road network, including motorway service areas, InstaVolt chargers deliver Ultra-rapid charging. InstaVolt recently calculated that EV drivers in the UK are never more than 30 miles from one of its chargers.
InstaVolt’s charging network joins over 80,000 other chargers across more than 50 networks already accepting payment through Zapmap, spanning on-street, destination and en-route charge points, with more being integrated all the time. Named as an ‘EV driver recommended’ network in Zapmap’s latest driver satisfaction rankings, the network is at the forefront of grid-independent resilience through its deployment of battery storage technology, notably at its flagship Winchester superhub, which provides charging for 44 vehicles, and at Welcome Break Corley (M6), the UK’s first motorway services to host on-site battery storage directly connected to its chargers.

With a focus on getting EV drivers back on the road quickly and with minimal fuss, InstaVolt collaborates with popular retail and hospitality services to provide an enjoyable charging experience, while the partnership with Zapmap helps drivers find InstaVolt chargers easily via the app, whether en-route or at their destination, and then manage and pay for it through a consistent familiar interface or charging card.

An easy way to pay for EV charging
Zapmap users can add a credit or debit card to their account and use it to pay for EV charging, providing a simple way to pay across networks from within the familiar Zapmap app, or with a tap of the Zapmap charging card. The payment solution was launched with a mission to include all the key charge point networks across the UK and means drivers can avoid having to use different payment methods across various charge point operators.
Drivers paying with Zapmap are also able to view their charging history, receive live status updates and download receipts to track their spending. They can also use both Apple Pay and Google Pay on all devices that accept payment through Zapmap.
